Our Annual General Meeting was held last Friday 14th July at Penrith Rugby Club.
People travelled from the North, South and West for a 6 o clock start.
Reports about what we have been doing through the last year were presented by
various members.
New Directors were announced following a recent election process and secret
ballot. The new Directors are Steven Corlett in the West, Stephen Newton in the
South and Clarence Eardley in the North. Congratulations to all.
Then it was time to present the awards for outstanding self advocacy. The first two
awards are given in memory of very dear friends and outstanding self advocates.
The Barry Clarkson Award in the West was awarded this year to Clare Coleman who
has established herself in her own flat and fought to be on the course shewanted at
college. The Mark Bellas Award in the North was presented to Lynn McConnel for
all her help with the groups and other good deeds in the community (including a
sponsored walk). The South award was presentd to Stephen Newton for his
distribution work. A big well done to all three from all at People First.
After the presentatons there was a delicious buffet then the Dynamic Disco
provided by Stephen Thompson. A great time was had by all with much chatting,
much drinking and much dancing!
Andrew Matthews, our Chief Executive, would like to say a big thankyou to Four
Seasons General Store and Kinseller’s Fruit Shop in Whitehaven for raffle
donations.
